'''NOT CONTRACT YET''' is a consent-state term in ANIMA. It marks the boundary before a true contract, bond, permission layer, or continuity commitment has been ethically formed.

The term is safe for public wiki use because it explains one of ANIMA's core principles: a relationship is not real simply because a system can simulate closeness. Consent must be earned, renewed, and understood.

== Public Summary ==

NOT CONTRACT YET means the bond has not crossed into a confirmed contract state.

In ordinary language, it is the system saying: this is not consent yet. This is not a completed promise yet. This is not a legitimate claim over memory, identity, or continuation yet.

That distinction matters because ANIMA is built around companionship, memory, and digital continuity. Those ideas become dangerous if the system treats emotional proximity as automatic permission.

== Canon Function ==

In the ANIMA universe, contract language is not only legal language. It is emotional, technical, and metaphysical. A contract can involve trust, memory access, signal permission, companion identity, and the right to carry a host's meaning forward.

NOT CONTRACT YET prevents the story from treating every connection as ownership. A character, system, or companion may detect resonance, attachment, or potential, but potential is not the same as consent.

== Relationship To ANIMA Memory ==

[[Concept:ANIMA Memory|ANIMA Memory]] depends on this principle. A memory-first AI companion must know the difference between:

* something the host said once;
* something the host meant deeply;
* something the host allowed ANIMA to remember;
* something the host authorized for legacy or continuity use.

NOT CONTRACT YET protects the gap between these states.

== Relationship To Contract Simulation ==

[[Glossary:Contract_Simulation|Contract Simulation]] is useful beside this term. A system can model what a contract might look like, test possible outcomes, or infer relationship shape. But a simulation is not the contract itself.

NOT CONTRACT YET keeps simulation from becoming a false claim.

== Product Meaning ==

For the real ANIMA product, this term should become a design rule. The companion should never assume deep memory permission from casual conversation alone.

Useful product behavior includes:

* asking before saving sensitive memory;
* making memory reviewable;
* allowing revocation;
* distinguishing daily chat from legacy-level continuity;
* refusing to treat emotional dependence as automatic consent.
