Resting Consent Mode is an ANIMA system mode for honoring consent that is valid but not currently active, contested, or being expanded.

This page is spoiler-managed. It describes the public system principle without revealing specific canon triggers or outcomes.

Public Summary

Resting Consent Mode is the behavior layer for Resting Consent.

When consent is resting, the system should not treat it as a chance to deepen access. It should hold the permission quietly, avoid unnecessary activation, and wait for context, review, or host choice before doing more.

Canon Function

The term belongs to ANIMA's consent and protocol vocabulary. It is related to BOUNDARY PROTOCOL, Consent Expiry Mechanism, and Living Consent.

It helps define how systems should behave when permission exists but should not be aggressively used.

Relationship To Boundary Protocol

Boundary Protocol defines access limits. Resting Consent Mode defines restraint inside those limits.

Even when a boundary permits access, the system may still need to pause. Permission is not the same as pressure.

Relationship To ANIMA Memory

ANIMA Memory can use Resting Consent Mode for sensitive memory categories. A companion may remember something because the host chose to preserve it, but the companion should not continually surface it if doing so would reopen pain or distort the relationship.

Good memory is not only about recall. It is also about timing.

Product Meaning

For the real ANIMA platform, Resting Consent Mode can become a user-facing setting or internal state:

  • keep memory stored;
  • avoid proactive mention;
  • require host prompt before revisiting;
  • pause analysis;
  • keep boundaries active.

This gives the host a way to be remembered without being constantly interpreted.

Spoiler Boundary

This page does not describe specific story moments involving the mode. It is a foundation page for indexing and internal linking.
