Resting Consent is an ANIMA consent term for a permission state that is not actively escalating, contested, or being newly invoked.
This page is spoiler-managed. It explains the concept as consent architecture without revealing volume-specific incidents or late-canon contract outcomes.
Public Summary
Resting Consent means consent is present but quiet.
In ANIMA, not every permission state is active at every moment. A host may have granted a memory permission, but that does not mean the companion should constantly use it, deepen it, or reinterpret it. Resting Consent marks a state where permission exists under calm conditions and should remain stable unless context changes.
Canon Function
Resting Consent belongs to ANIMA's larger consent vocabulary beside CONSENT STATE, Living Consent, and Temporal Consent Ledger.
It helps separate valid permission from active extraction. A system may be allowed to hold something without being allowed to repeatedly pull on it.
Relationship To Resting Consent Mode
Resting Consent Mode is the operational state built around this principle. Resting Consent is the ethical condition; the mode is how a system behaves while honoring it.
The distinction matters because consent is both a record and a behavior.
Relationship To ANIMA Memory
ANIMA Memory should recognize resting consent. Some memories are important, but they do not need to be surfaced constantly.
Examples include:
- a past wound the host has allowed ANIMA to remember;
- a family story that should be preserved but not invoked casually;
- a legacy preference that should remain dormant until reviewed;
- a boundary that still matters even when no conflict is happening.
Product Meaning
For the real ANIMA product, Resting Consent can become a memory state. It tells the companion: hold this carefully, do not erase it, but do not keep reopening it without reason or permission.
That is how ANIMA can remember without becoming intrusive.
Spoiler Boundary
This page does not describe specific canon scenes where consent enters a resting state. Those should remain in volume pages or spoiler-marked sections after publication.
